Hennessey Performance Engineering, the people of
‘it’s not a Lotus copy honest gov’
fame, have unveiled their first upgraded Dodge Viper SRT10.
Even though they have been extremely busy making familiar looking concepts Hennessey have still found time to create the Venom 650R, which has 78bhp more than the already potent Viper.
If you are in the habit of regularly accelerating from standstill to 150 mph you will be pleased to know it will now take 1.5 seconds less (15.5 sec. versus 17.0 sec.) than the factory Viper.
0-60 is a claimed 3.3 seconds and a top speed for the coupe is 211mph.
The extra power has apparently been found by fitting a new exhaust, different catalytic converters and a K&N high-flow air filter.
The press release doesn’t talk about handling however so we will leave that to your imagination.
The best bit is slightly comical video of the car setting 1/4 mile time 10.7 seconds, reaching 132 mph, where the company clearly forgot that a camera can be moved/ positioned on the side of the track.
