Is an Evo coupe on the way?
Mitsubishi has unveiled the Concept-RA at the Detroit motor show.
The car features the same S-AWC vehicle dynamics control system driveline and the Twin Clutch SST (Sports Shift Transmission) used in the all-new Lancer Evolution X, but is powered by a new high-output, high-efficiency diesel engine.
The motor in question is a 2.2 litre, 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve turbo diesel engine with MIVEC continuously variable valve lift and timing control.
We think the car looks good and hope it could make it into production as a coupe version of the Evo X.
However it would be nice to see a turbocharged petrol engine as well as a diesel, although the oil-burner in the Concept-RA has 204bhp and should provide decent performance and a lot of torque.
