This is the Mugen Civic Type RR Experimental Spec concept, which recently made its world debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon. PistonHeads readers have already shown displeasure that 'our' Type R is a much softer version of that available to the Japanese market but this version twists the knife a little bit further.
As you'd expect Mugen have added some rather over the top styling, but at least it adds to weight saving with an aluminium bonnet, a carbon fibre front bumper and a rather large rear spoiler. In addition to this the RR ES has lighter wheels, uprated brakes and suspension along with a stripped out interior and fantastic looking racing seats.
Thankfully though, it's not all show as the K20A engine has been bored out to 2.2 litres giving 260hp and 173 lb/ft of torque.
