Renault has a proven track record with its quick Renaultsport hot hatches and now it has given the same treatment to its new Twingo.
The car slots in below the Clio and Megane Renaultsport models and although it ‘only’ has 133bhp it promises old school hot hatch thrills.
Reviews of the Twingo GT showed it had potential and the new Renaultsport version could be a cracker.
Performance data is sketchy at the moment but expect a 0-60 time of around 8 seconds.
Renault has made a good job of beefing up the exterior of the Twingo, with pumped up arches and a rear spoiler, giving it a more aggressive look.
Renault said it has tried to make the car sporting but usable with a chassis that is ‘both responsive and finely tuned to provide precise, balanced handling’.
The 1,598cc Renaultsport Twingo will be launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The car will go on sale in the UK in Autumn.
