OK, it's been talked about and there's been rumours but now I can reveal the truth. This year PistonHeads has linked up with our furry friends at White Rabbit Racing to create a Le Mans camping area that is exclusive to PHers. It is called Area-24 and will be situated at Beausejour, see
here
Now, we're guessing that most of you have made the trip to Le Mans, so we don't need to tell you what it's all about, but If you’ve not been shame on you! How can anyone rightly claim to be a true petrolhead if they’ve never experienced this Mecca to everything and anything automotive? Once bitten, the annual Le Mans 24 hour becomes an enigma that curiously finds its way into the diary every year.
White Rabbit Racing runs a private camping operation right in the heart of the circuit. It is dedicated to adding to your Le Mans experience and keen to hear from first timers. PistonHeads members will be welcomed with large reserved pitches of approximately 50 square meters - far too much room but it will mean you can spread out nicely. There is no danger of being squeezed like on other sites and your pitch will be reserved for you - no matter what time you choose to arrive - so you can enjoy a relaxed drive down.
The PH/WRR camp will also have dedicated showers and toilets, a central social area with a cold beer and soft-drink bar. The site will also be fenced off and secure along with marshals on patrol to guarantee strict members only access.
WRR and PH hope to offer catering too, with hearty breakfasts and a range of dinners in the evening - we'll keep you updated as we know more.
WRR offers a fixed price ferry deal with Norfolk Line, priced at £38 return - guaranteed until the 28th February, details of which can be found here (you will need to join WRR to view - but will not be spammed nor charged). Official convoys will take place Monday to Friday from the 08.00 Norfolk Line crossing with a group return at 18.00 on Monday.
Discounted Le Mans race tickets can be purchased from the ACO welcome centre by showing your WRR/PH camping pass.
Pitches are priced at £245 per car, yes that's per car, so the more in the car the cheaper it is per head. Group bookings are also welcome but please book together under one name to help with site planning.
There are already over 150 PH cars on the list so to bag your space please e mail Guy at WRR and he will reply with booking details and more information.
