Seemingly someone at Coys thinks the PistonHeads team has plenty of spare cash lying around, as the catalogue for their next auction, being held at Lords's, dropped through our letterbox this morning.
As it's a Friday, and there isn't a lot of news about today, I thought I'd share some of the fantastic cars that they have for sale. Shed of the Week is one thing but you'd need a lot more that a grand to stick your hand up at this auction.
They have some strange cars for sale, that's for sure. How do you fancy popping down to the shops in Fred Flintstones sports car from the film The Flintstones? As it's powered by 12 volt batteries you can even avoid the congestion charge. Maybe you always preferred Barney Rubbles car that's available too with both expected to reach between £8000 and £13,000
Have you ever seen the program 'Chop Shop'? I haven't, and looking at the cars they produce I won't be setting my Sky+ box to record it either. Take a look at their Super Surfer, created by welding two 1990 VW Polos together to create a six wheeled pick up. Still powered by the original 1.3 litre engine we hope the new owner isn't in a hurry to get to the beach. Other Chop Shop cars include The Congestion Buster based on a Suzuki carry van with Corsa body panels and the The Street Racer with a 2.0 Ford Mondeo engine. None of these cars have a reserve set.
Moving on to the better stuff, there are some simply fantastic cars going under the hammer.
156 miles isn't really that far is it? A decent hoon on a Sunday afternoon can see that sort of miles disappear, so can you imagine what was going through the mind of the chap who bought a Jaguar XJ220 and put it into storage after covering that amount of miles in it? Maybe they were hoping on making a good investment on their £403,000? When you see the guide price of £120-150,000 it makes you wonder if they wished they had spent more time actually driving it.
George Harrison once owned a rather normal W124 230E, and quite rightly he became bored if it. Instead of selling it on, he decided to send it off to AMG so that they could fit a 5.6 litre V8, tweak the suspension and add a racing exhaust along with some AMG body styling. I'd love to own this car, and as it is offered with no reserve it's worth keeping an eye on
How about a Ferrari 456GT? Coys offer a 1996 version in Nero black with black leather, manual transmission and less than 50,000 miles. Seems incredible value with a guide price of £28,000
There are too many cars to write about here, so take a look at the pictures below, and have a look at the full list of cars here.
