Audi has launched its first ever diesel TT which promises 50mpg+ fuel economy.
The TT has been around for ten years and this is the first time it has been diesel powered – further proof Audi wants oil burners to be part of its sports car line-up.
The car will debut at the Geneva Show and will be ready for UK order in early March 2008 priced from £26,350 OTR for summer 2008 deliveries.
Powered by the latest 170bhp 2.0-litre, four-cylinder TDI engine with ultra-efficient common rail fuel injection incorporating piezo injectors.
Audi is saying the TT is the first ‘bona fide diesel-powered sports car’ and will be available in both coupe and roadster forms.
The TT will rev to 5,000rpm and has a top speed of 140mph.
The manual diesel takes 7.5seconds to reach 62mph.
