I never thought it possible to get a MOT’d Ford Sapphire Cosworth for less than a grand until I saw this advertised on Autotrader. Then I read the description and realised you can’t as this is no Cossie (in fact it's not even a Sapphire). But read on, as believe it or not this thing has more power than its legendary second cousin once removed, and it comes from an unlikely source.
At some point in this car’s life the owner has got bored of bumbling around from one paperclip meeting to the next with just a weedy 2.0 litre lump for company. So he did what any sane person would do and shoehorned in a 3.5 litre V8 from a 1996 Range Rover. But no, no, no, leaving it like that just wouldn’t do – the car then had some ‘alterations’ including a Holley 4 barrel carb, Edelbrock headers, and a straight through
exhaust. The last item makes the car ‘very loud’ according to the owner, and the result of all this work means that the car now has 210bhp, a few more than a Cossie.
But to compare the two any further would be pointless as they are clearly very different beasts. This Sierra now has a Jag rear axle and diff and one would imagine very, very lively handling. The seller says the alloys are original RS500 items but I’m not so sure, and the car sits quite high, leaving me to assume that work on the suspension was always put off until tomorrow. This does mean that the car is perhaps the ultimate sleeper (apart from the noise I suppose) and once it has stopped spinning the rear tyres to oblivion is no doubt pretty quick. There’s smoked rear lights thrown in but the owner has somehow resisted the temptation to stick on every accessory in the Halfords sale.
It has had a respray but the colour seems to nicely match once of the standard hues on bog standard repmobiles that were once commonplace on Britain’s motorways. There is an MOT and a slight catch however – the car is not running at the moment. However you wouldn’t buy a one-off Sierra/Range Rover hoon-mobile if you didn’t fancy getting your hands dirty once in a while. Apparently it needs ‘its oil pickup pipe and strainer fitting’, but the owner hopes to get this done this week. Apart from that the car is good to go, so ignore those common old Cosworths and get a rare Sierra like this…

Manual, 117,000 miles, Candy Blue, the car is actually a 3.5ltr V8!!! not a cosworth!! here we have my much loved sierra, selling due to my work moving me abroad. and unfortunately unable to take her with me. the egine is from a 1986 Range Rover. it is a 3.5ltr V8. it has had some alterations, holley 4 barrel carb, edelbrock pan filter, edelbrock headers, 8-2-1 exhaust system, (pre cat engine so it is a straight through pipe to the rear silencer) and is very loud!!! it also has smoked rear lights, RS500 alloys, clear side repeaters, respray in candy blue last year, rear spoiler, jag rear axle and diff. rear wheel drive monster!!! running approx 210bhp and tons of torque!!!!! there is MOT till sept 08, but no tax as it has been worked on for the last couple of months. the car is a non ruuer at the moment due to it needing its oil pickup pipe and strainer fitting which i have the part but not had the time to fit yet, hopefully get this done this week. that is the only issue with the car and is easily
sorted and will be a brilliant car again!! if you are after something different and will put a smile on your face then this is it!!! i will advise you that the car does pull well and is fast so therefore no test pilots or crashtest dummies!! lookin for £1000 ono. callme on 01799510803. £999. ono
