Is it - isn't it?! No probably not.
There’s a lot of excitement out in internet land concerning some footage of an Alfa 159 that has surfaced on YouTube.
Like a grainy sighting of the Loch Ness Monster, Alfa fans are claiming that the slightly shaky ‘spy video’ shows a 159 GTA development mule, thus proving that an M3-basher from Italy is not far away.
We at PH are not so convinced.
For a start it would appear that Alfa has not gone down the traditional route of disguising its development hack, or even tried to divert attention from it for that matter.
Instead the engineers have chosen to slap a two foot high Alfa logo on the bonnet and plastered the back of the car with the brand name.
It could, however, be a double bluff and this really is a GTA.
What we do have is four exhaust pipes, a deep burbling exhaust note and AMG Black Series-esque vents.
The car was spotted at the Nurburgring and the driver was kind enough to let an amateur cameraman run around the vehicle while he had a cup of tea.
Reports suggest that the GTA could have a V8 – which would make sense considering all the competition have an eight pot – from a Maserati Quattroporte.
Have a look at the vid here and decide for yourself whether this is indeed a GTA
