The first Ginetta G50 road car has taken to the streets around Leeds.
The production car will be very track-focused, but at the same time usable enough to be driven to and from the circuit.
Two versions will be offered – a 3.5 litre Ford V6 and a limited edition V8 - and there will be some levels of comfort such as a leather interior.
The car will feature in this weekend’s London to Silverstone Supercar Tour, along with the likes of Bugatti, Maserati, Jaguar and Ferrari.
‘The prototype road car has been road registered to put miles on the engine and components,’ said Ginetta boss Richard Dean.
‘It’s currently very much in race car trim in terms of its interior and fit, but it’ll never have things like hand-stitched leather.
‘It’s very much a performance car that you can drive to a track, blast it round and drive home again.
‘It will be much closer to a race car than anything on the road at the moment.’
Specification of the road car is very much similar to the Cup car – currently with the same 3.5 litre Ford V6, 300 bhp engine under the bonnet.
Quaife’s six-speed sequential gearbox will transfer the power to the rear wheels. The guide price is £45,000.
A flagship limited edition 520 bhp V8 Zytek-powered model will be released with the aim to be the fastest production car on the road.
Its target price will remain below the £100,000 mark.
Type approval for the car is being sought with a view to building 300 cars combined with the V6 and V8 models.
