'I thought you said you had a coupe?'
Take one look at this new Seat Ibiza and you would be forgiven for thinking it’s a three-door hatchback - but you’d be wrong.
This is, according to the Spanish carmaker, the new Ibiza ‘SportCoupe’, which is in no way marketing speak for three-door hatch.
In fact go through Seat’s press release and you will find no mention of these words, instead learning that the SportCoupe is ‘sassy’, ‘bespoke’ and ‘head-turning’.
It is 17mm lower than the ‘five-door’ (we are allowed to call it that) and will include the option of a seven-speed DSG double clutch gearbox technology - a world first for the supermini segment.
This will be available on the new 105bhp 1.6-litre model and Seat says the car will have ‘crisp’ handling.
The car is a different interpretation of designer Luc Donckerwolke's ‘Arrow Design', featuring lowered headlights and repositioned radiator grille.
SEAT Head of Marketing, Steve Robertson, said of the important addition to the new Ibiza family:
‘Traditionally, a significant part of our business has been built on the success of three-door Ibiza, so the unveiling of this stunning new SportCoupé is a key moment for us,’ he added.
