Silverstone plays host to the penultimate round of the British GT Championship on August 17 and PistonHeads has 25 pairs of tickets to give away. It is the first of this season’s two 2-hour races and features refuelling and an open pitstop window, which gives each team greater flexibility over their race tactics compared with the usual 60-minute races. The only requirement for each team is the maximum time one driver can spend in the car is 90-minutes but they can do as many driver changes as they choose.
Both drivers’ titles were decided at Brands Hatch last month, with James Gornall and Jon Barnes crowned the 2008 Avon Tyres British GT Champions after scoring four wins and three further podium finishes in the Team Trimite Brookspeed Viper Competition Coupé.
With the driver titles decided, the championship focus now switches to the 2008 British GT teams championship. The trio of CR Scuderia Ferrari’s are currently holding a 12 point advantage over the single Team Trimite Brookspeed Viper, with 20 points still available over the final two races of the 2008 season.
The inaugural Avon Tyres British GT4 title was also decided at Brands Hatch, with third and first place finishes in the two 60-minute races enabling Matt Nicoll-Jones and Stewart Linn to become the first ever British GT4 Champions with an impressive tally of twelve podium finishes, including six wins, from twelve starts in the IMS Motorsport Ginetta G50.
If you would like a pair of tickets for the race they will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. All you have to do is email your name and address to competitions@pistonheads.com and put 'Silverstone BGT' in the subject line.
