Fast Ford fans are flocking back to the RS banner with more than 1,000 firm customer orders already placed for the fabulous new Focus RS.
The RS badge has always been a hit for Ford in the UK since the original Mk1 Ford Escort RS1600 was launched way back in 1970. The new Focus RS revealed at this summer’s British International Motor Show was in part a visual homage to that heady 1970s era with a vivid ‘Electric Green’ paintjob and contrasting matte black aero parts.
The Electric Green colour scheme undoubtedly hit the spot, with around 40 percent of customers requesting it. Although Ford has yet to confirm the availability of any colours, other popular requests have been for ‘Frozen White’ and ‘Electric Blue’.
The new front drive Focus RS boasts a 300PS version of the Ford group’s 2.5 litre five cylinder engine, and a funky front suspension set-up named ‘RevoKnuckle’ with a Quaife LSD that should help minimise torque steer.
Ford says the car will be available in UK showrooms early next year.
