Top German tuner Carlsson has unleashed an upgraded version of the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG, charmingly claiming its modifications ‘activate the hidden potential’ of the standard machine, which has ‘comparably low power’.
Indeed, compared to the Carlsson CK63’s claimed 565hp, the 457hp generated by the 6.3 litre M156 motor in the standard C 63 AMG may seem a little weedy… Carlsson says its performance kit also bumps up the torque from 600 to 685 Nm, with the overall result being a drop in the 0-62mph time from 4.5 secs to 3.8secs. Top speed is limited to around 185mph.
The performance kit includes a modified ECU, a sport air filter and a carbon fibre engine cover, while the sporty rear muffler offers an extra 15hp and – according to the press release – ‘renders an enormous sound’. We’ll have one of those then!
Other tweaks for the Carlsson CK63 include an adjustable coil-over suspension kit offering step-less height adjustment, a torque-sensitive limited slip diff with variable lock-up, super light alloy wheels, front and rear spoilers in carbon fibre, and an array of optional interior refinements.
