Dutch supercar builder Spyker has confirmed its super-ostentatious D12 Peking to Paris 'sport ute' will go into production next year, according to Autocar.
Launched to general incredulity at the 2006 Geneva motor show, the giant behemoth packed a tweaked Volkswagen W12 engine making 500bhp - enough to generate a claimed 0-60mph time of 5 seconds and a maximum speed of 185mph.
Apparently 100 orders have been placed following the show, and although it was previously reported that the car might be built with a US V8, Autocar's latest article suggests the W12 will make it into the production version - to be priced around £186,000.
The news follows hot on the heels of Spykers launch of the Laviolette LM85 - a road going version of its Le Mans car.
In order to cope with demand for it's exclusive product range, the company has recently installed a production line at its Zeewolde factory. Previously Spykers were hand-built by individual teams.
