Ideal car for people who want... umm...?
Germany’s tune-up merchants usually make sure the Essen motor show is good for a laugh, and Lumma Design has pulled out all the stops to make sure this year is no exception.
Enter the Lumma Design CLR X 650, a wide-bodied take on BMW’s already ostentatious X6 ‘SUV coupe’. New panels add a monstrous 10cms to the X6’s considerable girth, giving the latest Lumma-mobile what the company describes as an aggressive and menacing appearance.
Under the bonnet lurks an ‘uprated’ 4.4L V8, but no figures have been provided – although we do know buyers will get an engine dress-up kit with red-coated cover and carbon air-inlet tubes.
There is also a ‘sports braking system’, 23ins forged alloy wheels and a two-tone leather/Alcantara makeover for the interior. The result, says Lumma in its press release, is ‘an individual unicum, state of the art’. We’re not quite sure what unicum means in this context, but it may be a reference to the hideous herbal liqueur of the same name that’s routinely served-up to tourists in Hungary.
