The new Focus RS could top 164mph according to new details from Ford Austria. The car is not due until early next year and before now the carmaker has been coy about exact performance figures and pricing.
Word from Austria says that the RS will be 39,000 Euros, or around £33K, but this should be closer to £25K when it arrives in the UK. It is said that the 0-60mph time will be 5.9 seconds and the top speed a whopping 164mph thanks to a near 300bhp 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine.
The limited-slip diff is said to be much improved over the mk1 Focus RS and the new car also gets uprated springs, dampers and anti-roll bars. Ford is also introducing ‘Revoknuckle’, which is a fancy name for suspension technology that will hopefully tame all those horses going through the front wheels.
The new Focus RS will be offered with three different exterior colours: ‘Performance Green’, ‘Indianapolis Blue’ and ‘Frost White’, each with the choice of blue or green interior. Alternatively, a full black leather option will also be available for all three exterior colours.
