Now, I’m not going to be down on all replicas because some of them (

) really do look like quality jobs. But to be honest sometimes it looks like there’s been a slight lack of effort.
I mean, if you’re going to create a mid-engined Ferrari out of a Pontiac, an hour with some fibre glass and a bit of chicken wire really won’t do. But if you do want to make a Ferrari 512 TR in your lunch break then this is probably what you will end up with – a ruined Pontiac Fiero GT.
Let’s look at the evidence. The exposed screws on the bumper. The offset of the rear alloys that make it look like a three-wheeler. The Ferrari badged door cards. The cardboard box rear end.
All this for $12,000 – which I’m guessing will buy you quite a lot of metal Stateside. In fact the rest of the car is so bad I’m pleasantly surprised and even a little impressed by the plastic Ferrari-style engine cover. I’ll get my coat…
