Audi has chosen Detroit to launch the long-awaited R8 V10 5.2 FSI. The car features a mid-mounted ten-cylinder engine nabbed from the Lamborghini Gallardo, with 525hp and 391lb ft of torque.
The R8 is the first car to get all LED lights and the exterior look has been beefed-up with wide side sills, revised matte aluminium exhaust tips and new 19” 10-spoke alloys. The R8 V10 will accelerate to 60mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 196.35mph.
The V10 revs to 8,700rpm and according to Audi ‘plays a concert with growling bass tones and powerful high notes, which grows into a grandiose fortissimo as the engine revs up.’
The Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro will be rolled out in Germany in the second quarter of 2009 at a basic price of EUR 142,400.
