Screw the economic crisis - who's the Stig?
If you’ve been following the ‘who’s the Stig’ debate, and indeed still give a monkey’s, then you may/may not be interested in this latest revelation.
Footage has emerged on YouTube showing the Black Stig (he was the one before the White Stig) climbing out of the ocean. This means that the Black Stig may be coming back in an amazing twist (publicity stunt) for the show.
A press release accompanying the video says: ‘Until now, the original Stig from BBC Top Gear was thought to have been killed back in 2003, when he drove a modified Jaguar XJS off the end of HMS Invincible aircraft carrier at 109mph...The nation was shocked that the Stig was dead. However, recent footage has been found on YouTube showing that he miraculously survived.’
The Stig was an invention of Jeremy Clarkson when the show returned in its new format in 2002. The name was given to new boys at Clarkson’s school, Repton.
The character disappeared around the time he was identified to be racing driver Perry McCarthy. Recently the White Stig was named as Bristol-based Ben Collins, who raced as a speedway driver and stuntman.
The latest press release added: ‘How he survived, nobody knows. Some believe he used the nitrous octane equipment from the Jag to breathe. Some believe he can communicate with dolphins and they cared for him. Has he returned because he can sense White Stig has had his identity exposed?’
It could be a hoax, it could be true – maybe the new Stig will in fact be blue? Fascinating stuff…
