Pagani will tease Geneva show-goers with a ‘hybrid’ preview of the Zonda Cinque model that will apparently be built next year.
The Cinque will be a road-going version of the Pagani Zonda R Clubsport racing car, built in strictly limited numbers (five!) reportedly at the behest of Pagani’s distributor in Hong Kong. All five cars are said to have been sold even though production has yet to begin.
The Geneva show car will not be a true Cinque, but a ‘regular’ Zonda F done up in the Cinque’s proposed livery and without some of the Zonda R’s aerodynamic features like the hood scoop and rear diffuser – features we do expect to see on the real Cinque when it arrives. Confused? Same here…
Never mind, the Zonda F Cinque show car is certainly great eye-candy, with striking black and red-trimmed road wheels and that unique paintjob.
Incidentally, although the Zonda R Clubsport has been described as the ‘ultimate’ version of the F, it only shares 10 percent of components with its roadgoing sibling. That fact suggests the Zonda R’s true purpose is to be a test bed for the next road-going Zonda hypercar, a still secret project known to Pagani insiders as Project C9 but apparently due to hit the street sometime in 2010.
