The latest ‘ultimate Ferrari experience’ will be unveiled tomorrow, when the Italians announce details of their ‘invitation only’ 599XX program at Geneva.
Described as a rolling technological laboratory aimed at a select group of clients, Ferrari says the 599XX incorporates ‘the most advanced the technologies from road-going and F1 research, many being used for the first time and having been developed exclusively for this special car’.
Although few details have been released prior to the show, the sorts of technology some expect to see on the 599XX include the active aerodynamics showcased on the Mille Chili concept. There’s even some media speculation on the possibility of a biofuel version of the 599’s 6.0 V12 making up to 700bhp, but we should know for sure tomorrow when Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo spills the beans.
What we do know is that like the Ferrari FXX project introduced in 2005, the 599XX will be available only to a handful of extremely wealthy clients who will probably never get to drive the cars on the road. Instead they will be invited to attend regular sessions at Ferrari’s test track, where they can experience the latest performance innovations in the company of Ferrari engineers and test drivers.
If you’re not already on personal terms with di Montezemolo you’re probably not going to be offered a 599XX. But don’t worry, Ferrari’s other show offering is the far more egalitarian 599 GTB Fiorano HGTE.
You don’t need connections to bag this ride, just a predicted £10k on top of the £193k list price of a regular 599. In return you’ll get an uprated suspension package, bigger wheels, lightly revised aero parts and a redesigned exhaust for enhanced aural pleasure. We’ll take one!
