As the current Jag XJ staggers manfully - er, slinks sinuously - toward its replacement next year, German tuner Arden has revealed a refreshingly tasteless attempt to freshen up the car’s retro styling.
The most immediately obvious new element in Arden’s AJ14 package is a set of Audi-esque LED running lights tacked into the lower air intakes. Don’t you just love ‘em?
The LEDs sit in a lightly restyled front end which also features Arden’s modified Leaper bonnet mascot, which is apparently designed to fall off when crashing into pedestrians and thus approved for use on the road by Europe’s safety-minded legislators.
At the rear a new diffuser is added that Arden says reduces lift at high speeds, improving handling and grip.
The final exterior touches are a set of new alloy wheels, and a replacement exhaust that fits inside the diffuser. Inside, the AJ14 gets a set of metal pedals on which a typical Jag driver’s leather-soled brogues will never get a decent purchase.
It’s not all bad news, however. Arden will also uprate your Jag’s performance, with up to 480bhp on offer from the supercharged 4.2L V8.
