Just before the Murcielago gets its swan-song in the shape of the featherweight SV version, revealed at Geneva a few weeks ago, Lambo are milking the most out of the imminently-retiring supercar with this special edition.
The LP650-4 Roadster somehow manages to make matt-grey paint look pretty dramatic, picking out details including the callipers, intake surrounds and front splitter in lurid orange - it shouldn't work, but it just does. New dark 'Hemera' alloys certainly help, as does the carbon fibre engine bracing that, as well as looking the part, also improves body rigidity without adding too much weight.
The orange highlights follow into the interior, which features asymmetric dashboard trim so that the driver's side is in alcantara, and the passenger's side is in black leather.
The engine is the same 6.5-litre V12 from the utterly bonkers Reventon. Producing 650bhp, it should be good for 205mph despite its lack of a roof. What's more, thanks to four-wheel drive, it should be able to leap to 60mph in 3.4 seconds.
The LP650-4 Roadster will be available before the SV's expected launch in early summer this year, for around £270,000. Orders are being taken now, but with only 50 being made, very few of these cars are likely to see our shores.
