Ross Kemp look essential at 257mph
The problem with driving a $1million Bugatti Veyron flat out at 253mph is there is a constant worry that someone will creep past at 4mph faster in a car with Ford Focus headlights.
I am of course referring to the Ultimate Aero SSC, which despite not having the name or heritage of a Bugatti is annoyingly marginally faster at 257mph.
In fact it lays claim to the title of ‘World’s Fastest Production Car’, despite looking like a cross between a nineties Top Trump and a made-up car from Ridge Racer.
Still, if speed is the main objective the SSC certainly delivers the goods, and now the very car that broke the record is available on eBay. According to the seller the SSC even offers a better ride than the Bug, as qualified by ‘several gentlemen’ who own them.
Even though there is a 1,200hp V8 behind your head the car is also said to be ‘relatively quiet’ and there are a host of goodies such as Sat Nav, a ten speaker audio system, 7.5” Video/DVD Screen, and reversing camera. The bidding has currently reached $425,100 with six days still to go.
The reserve is not met but there’s a good chance the car will still go for less than a Veyron. And just think of the look on the Bugatti driver’s face as you do the slowest overtaking manoeuvre an empty autobahn has ever seen…
