Audi’s V8 engined R8 is about to get a boost that pushes the car’s power output beyond that of the forthcoming V10 model.
German tuning company WheelsAndMore (WAM) has unveiled a series of performance upgrades that raises the R8’s power to 523bhp thanks to a custom built supercharger – an increase of 109bhp over the standard car and 5bhp more than in Audi’s new flagship V10 model.
The upgrade costs €32,500 (£30k), which raises the price of the supercharged 4.2-litre R8 to the same as the 5.2-litre V10. WAM also offer a more affordable ECU remap that raises the R8’s power to 444bhp but costs a fraction of the supercharger kit at just €1700 (£1600).
Other upgrades include a new brake package costing €14k (£13k) that increases the size of the front and rear callipers to eight-piston units at the front and six-pistons at the rear. There’s also the option of a full race suspension (£3750) and a handmade stainless steel exhaust kit with a remote-controlled, noise reducing valve (£4500).
In addition to WAM’s range of very pricey custom wheel designs the company also plan to introduce a range of exterior add-ons, with a carbon fibre rear diffuser and carbon front splitter both planned.
