Mercedes tuner Brabus has revealed an array of upgrades for the new E-class saloon that includes fitting a 6.1-litre V8 under the bonnet.
The larger capacity V8 increases power from 382bhp in the standard Mercedes E-Class E500 Sport to 456bhp. The Brabus tuned E-class also delivers significantly more torque at lower revs, with 453lb ft at 3100 rpm, up from 391lb ft at 4800rpm.
This helps the Brabus E-class crack 191mph, and reach 62mph half a second quicker in just 4.7sec. The extra power is reigned in by larger 375mm x 36mm cross-drilled brake dics and 12-piston aluminium callipers at the front, and 355mm x 28mm discs and six-piston callipers at the rear.
Brabus has also fitted a lowered air suspension system, as well as a limited-slip differential to help apply all that additional power to the road.
Cosmetic changes have been kept relatively subtle with a new front bumper, aluminium front quarter panels with carbon fibre air outlets, a boot lid spoiler and a choice of 17 to 20inch wheels in various designs. The rear bumper has also been replaced to accommodate the new Brabus sports exhaust.
Brabus is also working on improving the Mercedes-Benz BlueEFFIENCY turbodiesels, and will produce a more efficient Brabus ECO PowerXtra Blue tuning kit. The company states its aim is to produce 'an optimal symbiosis of added power and improved fuel economy', so watch this space.
