UK based racing team MML Sports has completed the first set of tests for its new Group N-Spec Evo X ahead of a competitive rally debut in next months Rally Latvia.
Testing for the Group N Evo X was conducted at Walters Arena, the venue for several of the stages of the UK leg of the FIA World Rally Championship, and will now be passed on to former British Champion Guy Wilks who will help fine tune the car's set-up before its debut.
The custom built Evo X gets a rally-spec roll-cage and a bag tank located underneath the vehicle floor to help lower the centre of gravity as much as possible. MML has also upgraded springs and added BOS dampers to help the Group N car cope with the demanding surfaces of the World Rally Championship stages.
The car will be eligible for the Production car World Rally Championship, as well as the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. It conforms to the stringent Group N rules that prevent changing the engine and suspension geometry, but MML has been able to fit a MOTEC ECU and a controllable active centre differential.
Customer cars are available to order now, but as with most forms of motorsport entry won’t be cheap - the car alone will set you back a hefty £120k. MML will continue to test the car this month, before competing in Latvia’s Rally Talsi on 16 May.
