The Aston Martin One-77 was voted best in class at the prestigious Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza yesterday – the first time the one million pound supercar has been seen with completed interior and running gear.
Rain didn't spoil Aston's parade
As our pictures show, the One-77’s cabin is an exotic mix of carbon fibre and leather. Driver and passenger sit either side of a wide central tunnel as the engine has been located as far back as far as possible to optimise weight distribution.
Controls for seat adjustment, climate control and audio are on the central tunnel, while the steering wheel features flattened sides for the driver to grip while operating the paddle-shifters behind. The polished metal inserts in the lower half of the wheel also contain buttons, possibly for launch control function. Ahead of the driver is a classic twin-clock set-up with speedo and rev-counter, with a smaller pair of ancillary dials on the outer edges of the instrument pod.
Interior detail is finally revealed
The show car’s seats are trimmed in white leather, with woven black and white leather inserts while the door panel surfaces are a mix of shiny carbon fibre and leather trim.
At the annual Villa d’Este event, visiting public are invited to cast votes for the best concept and prototype. Among eight entries from around the world, the One-77 was voted the best in class with more than 30% of the votes. Other class contenders were the Fisker Karma S, the electric Mindset, Morgan Aero SuperSports, Infiniti Essence, Perana Z One and Bertone Mantide.
