With the ever increasing kerb weights of modern cars, the 210bhp in the new Volkswagen Golf GTI doesn’t seem all that much. That’s why tuner Mcchip has created an ECU flash to raise the output of the GTI to over 250bhp.
The ECU remap adds an additional 42bhp and 74lb ft of torque, increasing the GTI’s outputs to 252bhp and 280lb ft.
Mcchip is also planning a sports suspension kit, that will lower the car’s ride height thanks to the installation of H&R springs. A set of black OZ 19-inch alloys will also be added to the upgrades list along with the option of ‘racing stripes’ in a choice of colours.
Prices for the Mcchip upgrades start at €849 (£750) for the ECU remap, that can also be carried out on the VW Scirocco. The Mcchip GTI will be unveiled at Tuning World Bodensee in Germany that starts on 30 April.
