After 15 years of motor racing, Spanish motorsport team GTA Motor has decided to take on the world of fast cars with its first foray into the supercar market.
Called the Spano, the 217mph supercar has been designed to represent Spain in a world dominated by Italian manufacturers such as Ferrari and Lamborghini. Styled by company boss Sento Pallardo and unveiled in his hometown of Valencia, the Spano has been in development for over three years and is now ready for production.
It is powered by a rear mounted, supercharged V10 engine that burns bio-ethanol to return 780bhp and a massive 679lb ft of torque. Those substantial figures go some way to explaining GTA’s ambitious claim of a sub three second 0-62mph time for their new creation.
The Spano weighs in at 1380kg thanks to its carbon fibre body and its composite chassis made of Kevlar, carbon fibre and titanium.
To aid the Spano’s performance, GTA has fitted a seven-speed sequential manual gearbox, 380mm carbon ceramic brakes and six-piston AP Racing callipers. They’ve also added electronically adjustable suspension, a pop up rear spoiler to aid stability and fitted a ride height adjuster to make the car a more viable daily drive.
It gets 19-inch wheels with 255/35 Pirelli P Zero tyres at the front and 20-inch 330/35 Pirellis at the rear.
GTA has remained quiet on the price, but with just 99 models being made, you can be sure the Spano will remain an exclusive toy rarely seen outside of a Spanish villa’s garage.
