Seat has unveiled its new production-ready Bocanegra at the Barcelona motor show.
Bridging the gap between standard Ibizas and 'proper' sporty FR and Cupra models that are due later this year, the Bocanegra showcases the new aggressive styling themes destined also to appear on those hotter versions.
To underline the new Bocanegra name (it means 'black mouth'), the restyled Ibiza gets body-coloured bumpers and a striking black grille with integrated fog lights, as well as a new rear spoiler, flared wheel arches and tinted rear windows.
Seat has also added glossy black interior trim, aluminium pedals, 17-inch alloys and a flat-bottomed three-spoke steering wheel to help accentuate the car’s sporty ambitions.
Two new engine options have been added to the Ibiza range with the launch of the Ibiza Bocanegra. The twin-turbo 1.4-litre TSI engine will also appear in the FR and Cupra models, but in the Bocanegra you can have it with 148bhp or 178bhp.
Cars will be fitted with an electronic system designed
to mimic a limited slip differential, and will also get a seven-speed DSG gearbox.
Prices for the UK cars have yet to be revealed, but it is thought the Bocanegra will cost around £16k when it goes on sale this summer.
