This year’s London Salon Privé will play host to some interesting and expensive exotica from some of the world’s most established marques, but the most eagerly anticipated lauch at the Hurlingham country club is that of the hardcore Veritas RS III roadster.
Details of the new open-top roadster have emerged ahead of the Salon Privé event, and it's not to our surprise that the Veritas is packing some serious power.
The 40’s inspired supercar will come with a choice of two BMW M-power engines from either the M3 or the M5. That means customers will be able to specify their Veritas with either a 4.0-litre V8 retuned to produce 480bhp or a 600bhp version of the BMW V10 engine.
With all that power the Veritas was never going to be slow, but the extensive use of carbon fibre and the absence of a roof or windscreen has ensured the kerb weight of the RS III has been kept to an absolute minimum, and will now tip the scales at just 1,170kg.
Veritas claim that will see the RS III dispatch 60mph in less than three seconds and top out at over 200mph regardless of engine choice.
Despite the obscure pedigree of the Veritas, don’t expect to pick one up on the cheap. There’s a reason as to why it is lining up amongst the likes of the Aston Martin One-77 and Maybach Zeppelin at its London reveal, but at just £250k some might say it is a bargain, particuarly when considering the company it will be keeping.
