The Hulme heads over Auckland Harbour bridge
The Hulme supercar - New Zealand's equivalent of the Caparo T1 - has finally been unveiled in finished production form. As you can see from the picture, it's even been for a run out on the road - which is more than many fledgling supercar projects ever manage.
Hulme's boss, 68-year-old Jock Freemantle (pictured driving), unveiled the supercar in Auckland on Saturday, but heavy rain prevented the car from running until the following day.
The Hulme, which is expected to cost in the region of 700,000 US dollars, is powered by a 7.0-litre LS-7 Corvette-sourced V8. Power for the 980kg machine is put at 600hp, with 443lb ft of torque. This is channelled via a seven-speed sequential gearbox.
It might be an expensive plaything, but to see the Hulme project coming so close to fruition - and in such a financial climate - has got to warm the cockles of any PHer's heart.
