The quirky C6-based Corvette GTR conversion from Specter Werkes has been re-released with more power to match its racetrack – or possibly Batman – inspired looks.
For a price-tag of around $35,000, Specter will comprehensively modify your C6 ‘Vette into this extroverted widebodied ground-effect machine, with a new nose featuring a carbon fibre splitter and bonnet modified with air-extractor vents, new wheel arches all round, revised door panels, sills, tail section and rear diffuser.
Power for the C6 GTR is rated at 615hp, thanks to a Chevy LS3 V8 engine that has been stroked to lift displacement from 6.2 to 6.8-litres, and comes with a modified camshaft and sports exhaust.
Underneath the extended bodywork, the suspension has been modified to widen the track, while special Forgeline VR3P wheels measuring 19in (front) and 20in (rear) are shod with sticky 285/30ZR19 front and 335/25ZR20 rear Michelin Pilot Sport 2 Zero Press tires. Stop Tech 15in slotted brake discs with six piston calipers keep the front wheels in check, while the rears are stopped by 14in discs and four piston calipers.
Michigan-based Specter Werkes says many other levels of engine tune are available, and because the company provides a bespoke service the upgrades are available across the Corvette range, including the base Coupe, new Grand Sport, Z06 and even the ZR1.
The GTR conversion pictured here also features a $5000 paintjob in Liquid Silver, the same shade you’ll see used on Mercedes AMG models.
