New teaser shots have emerged giving us a glimpse inside of the cabin of the upcoming Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing coupe.
As per the development prototype shots circulating on the web a while ago, these new pictures show the same attractive and well-integrated dash surviving in a car that looks very close to the final production version.
The simple, flat planes and highlights of carbon fibre, aluminium and leather make for a subtle and sporty-looking environment, and the controls and screen for the myCOMAND electronics system also appear well integrated without causing too much clutter.
The Gullwing design is of course a tribute to the great 300 SL Gullwing introduced in 1954, and the echoes have continued to the interior. Whilst the modern car is obviously a far more opulent affair, the same style of low-lying dashboard with two large instrument binnacles and 'eyeball' vents is a pleasant nod to the car's design heritage.
The SLS, with its 6.2-litre, 571bhp V8 will be revealed fully at Frankfurt in mid-September, and judging by the numbers on those dials, it should be a rather special machine. Even if you can't open the doors in some multi-storey carparks...
