If you thought that the epic LP670 SV was the swansong for the magnificent Lamborghini Murcielago, think again. Last week German race team Reiter Engineering revealed not one, but two versions of the archetypal supercar.
First up was the Murcielago Strada Concept (the yellow car). This one gets racing suspension, uprated brakes, lightweight alloys and a sports exhaust, as well a carbonfibre wing, diffuser and front splitter.
There’s no word on either production, or prices for Reiter’s mega-Murcielago, and Reiter isn’t saying whether or not it’s conceived of any tweaks to the engine.
The other Reiter Lamborghini, unveiled on Saturday at the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour sports car race, is the Lamborghini Murcielago LP670 R-SV.
This is the third car to be designed to comply with next year’s FIA GT1 regulations after the Ford GT and Nissan GT-R.
Don’t bet on seeing Lambo thrash it out with Nissan and Ford, however - the FIA will permit no more than six brands to be nominated in the FIA World GT Championship, and the Lambo's entry is not yet confirmed.
With Aston Martin vying to be allowed to enter a modified version of its venerable DBR9 racer, it looks as if the grid is already getting pretty full.
