Ruf has added an S to the name of its 911 Turbo conversion, and some significant hardware upgrades to match.
The Ruf Rt 12 S now comes with 685bhp from its twin-turbocharged engine - up from the previous Rt 12's meagre 650bhp - and 650lb ft of torque. Ruf politely suggests these numbers should be enough to satisfy the most demanding 911 customers, and we are politely inclined to agree!
You can tell the Rt 12 S apart from its predecessor by a modified front end with LED lighting, wider rear arches with new ducting and what is described in the press release as a 'subtle' rear spoiler in carbonfibre. The car runs on special 19ins alloys, features ceramic brake discs and has an aerodynamic package tuned to allow a maximum speed of 224mph.
The interior features an integrated roll-cage, a choice of 'comfort' or 'sports' seats and a bespoke steering wheel.
You can have your car delivered with the standard four-wheel drive set-up, but Ruf will convert it to rear-drive for 911 purists and customers with a penchant for power-sliding. If that's you, you'll need to write Ruf a cheque for €255,900 plus VAT.
