Team PH recently moved offices here at Haymarket Towers, away from the somniferous surroundings of the classical music titles and closer to the good fellows of
magazine. These are much more our sort of blokes - they all run old cars, they look warmly (if slightly bemusedly) at Garlick's Rangie and 944, and offer sage advice over the photocopier. Many a working hour has since been frittered away comparing repair bills, size of rust patches and potential future purchases, and it's all a rather convivial arrangement.
One downside, however, is that we're no longer possessors of the 'coolest job in the world' moniker in our corner of the office, and this week's desktop is a very good example of why not. Taken from their September issue (on sale yesterday, but be assured that Garlick has already stripped the classifieds of anything suspiciously cheap and excessively large of displacement) and featuring a recreation of the epic Miura fest that is the opening scene of The Italian Job, it shows editor-in-chief Mick Walsh pursuing a gorgeous black Miura SV from the driver's seat of an equally stunning gold car. The picture was shot on location at the Swiss Grand-St-Bernard pass, just as was the original footage which opens the film, and we're assured that the drive was as epic as the image would suggest.
Whilst we're green with envy, we're rising manfully above it to bring you this week's desktop. Enjoy - we're off to stare disconsolately at the stickers on Chris-R's new Renault long termer whilst pretending that we probably wouldn't have wanted to drive a Miura anyway.
