The MF4, shot from inside a Frank Miller comic
Wiesmann – producer of weird-looking but rather wonderful German sports cars – is set to unveil a new version of its roadster at next month’s Frankfurt motor show.
Dubbed the Wiesmann Roadster MF5 (the current offering is called the MF4), the new car is powered by the 500bhp, 384lb ft V10 from the BMW M5. That should ensure the car gets to 62mph in just 3.9sec and will reach 192mph flat out.
No photos have been released of the new car (the pics are of the MF4), but Wiesmann says that “the Wiesmann Roadster MF5 takes even experienced sports car enthusiasts into a brand new dimension of driving enjoyment” and that its new car “literally hugs the road as a result of perfect weight distribution”. Quite a statement, even if it does also evoke images of a sports car cuddling a piece of tarmac.
Only a privileged few will be able to explore said new dimension of driving enjoyment, however; Wiesmann will make just 55 examples of the MF5 Roadster. It’s not cheap either, what Wiesmann coyly describes as the ‘basic price’ for the new car is 189,500 euros (£164k).
