At 7.45am yesterday I was attaching PH direction signs to lamp posts along the drive of Mercedes-Benz World, when M-BW man Simon Bench asked how many cars were going to turn up. It's never an easy question to answer, but the sun was out so I confidently suggested we ought to break the 150 mark...
The space we had been allocated at M-B World was huge, but 15 minutes later the first cars started to arrive - an hour earlier than we were expecting! Fast forward two hours and I had become the worlds busiest parking attendant. In fact I actually wondered if all the PH cars would fit into the space that looked so vast only a short while ago. I had waved in everything from a custom US pickup to a Ferrari F40 and still they were coming.
In the end we reckoned that anything up to 400 PH cars were parked in the glorious Surrey sunshine, right alongside the M-BW test track where a selection of AMG models spectacularly wasted their rear tyres throughout the day.
Not only did we have an amazing display of PH cars to keep us entertained, but we also had the run of the Mercedes-Benz World facility. Those of you who have been there will know that it is a very impressive venue indeed, but as if that wasn't enough our hosts also showed the Grand Prix on their big screen, helping to make this one very special Sunday Service meet and an all time record-breaker in terms of attendance.
For those who came along, thank you for helping to make the day such a success. For those who couldn't make it this time please enjoy these pictures from the day. (Some of which have been taken from PHers' own images posted in the Events forum, so take a look in there for more.) Thanks also to PHer Nick Williams who took shots of the cars as they entered the parking area, and of course a big thank you to Mercedes-Benz World for having us!
