A little while ago, we had
a playful poke at the VW Beetle
, so we thought we'd give the Dub a chance to fight back. The Bug you see in these videos is not something you would wish to poke - playfully or otherwise - without running the risk of getting your finger bitten off.
Sure, beneath the clamshell tail you'll find a horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine, but this is no Ferry Porsche special. Instead, this Beetle is powered by powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged boxer from an Impreza STi, massaged to produce 350bhp.
Fortunately the chaps responsible for its creation have seen fit to bolt on some sizeable 17-inch rubber, disc brakes all round and a beefed-up clutch. What they haven't done is fitted the four-wheel drive system from an Impreza. Mind you, with all that weight over the rear wheels traction, at least, shouldn't be an issue.
Check out the second video for some particularly impressive launches. Herbie, make way, there's a new Bug in town...
