German tuner (and maker of Audi DTM racers) Abt has decided that the Audi R8 V10's 518bhp isn't quite enough. As a result, it has revealed this - an R8 V10 with 592bhp. Torque is also up to 405lb ft from 391lb ft.
Consequently, Abt claims a top speed for its tweaked R8 of 201mph, up 4mph on the standard car, while it says that the 0-62mph time is down a tenth of a second to 3.8sec.
"The 600hp is not just intended to exist on paper, but also be available on the road", says Christian Abt. Sounds like he's stating the obvious, but we think he means that this power tweak is a) a genuine 600hp and b) that the R8 is capable of putting it down on the road. We think.
Of a more acquired taste than the power upgrade is a range of cosmetic accessories that include a carbonfibre front spoiler, side sills, rear apron and rear wing. There are also distinctive 20-inch alloys and a Lexus IS-F style stacked quad exhaust.
Tasy engine? Yes. Tasteful accessories? Er...
