The updated 2010 version of Ford Racing's turn-key dragster, the Cobra Jet, has been caught testing at Milan drag strip (that's Milan in Michigan, not Italy). In this short video the car (a mule wearing the previous Mustang's body) is seen pulling a massive wheelie off the line, rocketing off with the extreme traction and neck-snapping pace you'd expect from this sort of 'funny car' dragster.
The 50 examples built of the previous Cobra Jet sold out in under 2 weeks, and the 2010 version is likely to be recieved with similar enthusiasm (it certainly will be at PH Towers!). As standard there's to be a more-than-ample 5.4-litre, 425bhp supercharged V8, but the car in this video is thought to feature the other engine option for the 'Jet, Ford's new all-aluminium 'Boss 351', which should kick out 600bhp plus.
Once again they're only building 50 examples, apparently just enough to recieve clearance from America's National Hot Road Association (NHRA) for use in competition, and the Cobra Jet will cost around $75,000 (£47k) when it goes on sale (very-briefly) later this year. As with the previous version, there are no plans to make the car road legal.
Interestingly, there are rumours emerging that the same engine could end up in the GT500 Mustang planned for next year, which means this impressive block could be made available in road-legal guise.
