New Toyota concept gets the 'GT' treatment
You won't be surprised to hear Toyota's
new rear drive coupe
has already made it onto radar of the Gran Turismo video game developers. In fact the FT-86 project was developed from the outset with the aftermarket tuning crowd in mind, so this promo video that follows hot on the heels of yesterday's official FT-86 reveal is a bit of a marketing 'no-brainer'.
Still fun to watch though, as the new FT-86 Concept gets put through its virtual paces on the track and through the city. And with the Gran Turismo team's reputation for attention to detail, plus the level of graphical realism now available on gaming screens, you can get a pretty good feel (sort of!) for how the car will look on the road. (Although we wonder if the mooted 150-odd hp of the 2.0 boxer powered coupe will quite muster the sense of unbridled drama this video provides.)
For rear-drive Toyota - and Initial D manga - fans, the clip even finishes with an AE86 in hot pursuit. We don't know when next generation of Gran Turismo will hit the small screens, but it looks like the Toyobaru will be one of the stars.
