$18k Camaro conversion to debut at SEMA
Chevrolet has been threatening muscle car fans with a convertible version of its retro Camaro since showing off a concept back in 2007.
The official word from Chevy in the US is that the Camaro convertible will arrive in 2011, but for fans of the brand who can't wait that long, Drop Top Customs are offering an $18k (£11,250) conversion that will make its debut at the SEMA tuning show in Las Vegas next month.
The show car pictured here started life as a standard Camaro SS which, with a 6.2 litre LS3 V8 making 400 hp, looks pretty good value with its $30,745 (£19,217 exc. taxes) price tag in the US. Spending an extra $18k with Drop Top Customs will add an extra dose of exclusivity, but not for long, and we can't help thinking the official Chevy concept from 2007 has a more 'factory finished' look.
The subject isn't quite academic for UK drivers, as the Camaro is available here through personal importers - but we've yet to see one on the road ourselves.

But does Chevy's factory concept look better?
