We were watching the weather forecasts all week and it didn't look good, but weather forecasters are always wrong we told ourselves...
But despite praying for a dry PH Sunday Service at BMW HQ in Bracknell, needless to say it rained! I arrived at Bracknell at 07.30 and could see the clouds as I approached. Twenty minutes later I was welcoming the first early arrivals and was already soaked through. Yet in spite the monsoon conditions, we had in the region of 370 cars show up making this one of our most successful PH meets ever. As usual, the car park contained a real mixed-bag ranging from a vintage Rolls Royce to a V10 R8. In addition there was an original Fiat 500, a Wood & Pickett Metro Vandan Plas and a smattering of TVRs. Where else could you see this variety of vehicles in the same car park?
We really must send out our thanks to BMW UK, who not only laid on an army of staff to make the event run smoothly but also allowed a host of their own classics to sit in the rain too. Thanks also to the restaraunt staff who laid on a great breakfast at a very reasonable price - if only we could start the day with a breakfast butty like that every morning!
Finally, but most importantly, thanks to those of you who braved the weather and turned up. We never expected almost 400 cars to arrive when we saw the rain falling as hard as it was, but you didn't disappoint. That's what makes PH great, and we appreciate those who shunned a warm bed for a wet carpark, you helped make the day a great success.
Stand by for details of the next PHSS scheduled for December.
