BMW has announced details of a hardcore new GTS version of its M3 model - road-legal, but designed with motorsport in mind.
The new machine will set you back somewhere in the region of £100k when it arrives in the UK early next year, and as these 'teaser' pictures and video show it features a range of body mods based on the M3 that races in the World Touring Car Championship.
New features include a deeper front apron and an impressive rear wing, but the key enhancements are under the skin.

where the car has just been revealed, it is fitted with a 7-speed M dual clutch transmission with adapted shift characteristics.
But, as the blurb says, the "absolute highlight is to be found under the bonnet".
"Exclusively for the BMW M3 GTS, the engine builders of BMW M - recent winners of the Engine of the Year Award once again - have developed a power unit based on the M high-performance engine of the current BMW M3: with a capacity of 4.4 litres and an output of some 450 bhp, it will catapult the light BMW M3 GTS into a whole new sphere.
"After all, the aim is to clearly beat the lap time of the legendary M3 CSL on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. And test runs certainly give grounds for optimism."
The M-Power website (linked above) has full details, and a competition in which you can win an opportunity to attend the vehicle's first official presentation.
