The organisers of the Goodwood Festival of Speed have announced the theme for 2010. Festival founder Lord March confirmed the central theme of the festival as
'Viva Veloce! - The Passion for Speed'
Just as Audi used last year's FoS to mark their centenary, this year's featured marque Alfa Romeo will mark its own centenary with lavish displays, but theme will also be interpreted more broadly into a celebration of Italian cars and motorsport past and present. The press release promises 'unbridled Latin zeal' (steady on chaps) and a wide array of iconic Italian machinery, though the exact list of automotive appearances is yet to be confirmed.

As you'd expect with the FoS, some other important birthdays will be acknowledged. The 60th anniversaries of the F1 World Championship and the Carrera Panamericana road race, and the 50th anniversary of the RAC Rally will all be celebrated with appropriate mini-exhibitions.
Last year's Audi theme led to some interesting exhibits, including that remarkable sculpture in front of Goodwood House. There's been no official word on what will take pride of place outside the great manor for 2010, so perhaps it's time to dust off the PH conceptual artist hat and pass on some suggestions. A pile of rusty scrap metal, perhaps? Ouch...
