The legendary name of Gordini, once synonymous with sporting Renaults, has re-emerged appended to a tarted-up Twingo Renaultsport.
The Gordini badge, which Renault says has adorned 200,000 vehicles since the mid 1950s, is being re-issued as an upmarket, sports-inspired cosmetic package for mainstream models. Reports suggest it won't be fitted to any more Renaultsport cars in future.
However, a Renaultsport Twingo has been chosen for the launch edition, with the charming result you can see here.
Expected to add around £1600 to the Twingo Renaultsport's price tag when it arrives here next spring, the £14k Gordini edition gets a stripy paintjob in French blue and white, a white spoiler and front intakes, as well as special wheels with blue (or black) inner rims.
Inside, buyers will get a quilted leather interior that includes leather trimmed door panels, steering wheel and even the dashboard cowl. Expect the blue and white treatment to make an appearance here, too, while luxuries above and beyond the standard Twingo Renaultsport spec will include aircon, cruise control, automatic wipers and lights, and extra tinted glass.
